Jasper Johns, a neo-dadist and modern pop artist prevalent in New York 1950's represented the ultra nationalistic spirit of the American life and times post world war two. He bridged abstract expressionism and pop art with his blatent use of symbology, the American Flag, the target, sculptural cans of ale, and other works brought upon and inspired by Rauschenberg, Duchamp, even John Cage's 4 " 33.

Johns even went on to win the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.
